I Was Never Promised a Rose Garden

So, I'm going to plant one myself. Last year, I planted a new rose bush. It's thriving and is probably 4 times the size it was when I bought it. This morning, I went to Lowe's to find another. I wanted yellow(my favorite), but the only yellow I could find was that "carpet rose" thing that's more like a ground cover. Instead, I got a Jackson & Perkins Grandiflora something that's kind of orangish-reddish-peachy. Close enough...the selection wasn't that great...maybe it's not that time of year, yet? Who knows?

The lack of luck isn't so tragic, however. A bouquet of a dozen yellow roses showed up at my back door first thing this morning...in the arms of my sister, Amy, who surprised me with them. I am quite touched. So, I have some yellow roses to enjoy for at least a little while. They are lovely and lovely-smelling. Why, you ask, would she just all of a sudden surprise me with a dozen roses? Well, it's my birthday today. I am 44.

And I remember the day as though it were yesterday. You were our third child but you are number one in my heart. Lest your siblings get jealous at that remark..they are all number one in my heart too.

You won't believe this but I remember when I was two years old and you slept in the same room as I did. You and I were just babies but I do remember back that far. Christine I love with all my heart. When I seen how far you have come in life, I beam with pride! Thank you for teaching me..life is short so get off your butt, quit complaining and live it. I love you. Hey I'm gonna get a rock of my own.LOL
