On Easter Sunday this year, our family was together. We filled an entire room at the house. Mom & Dad looked at each other at the moment of this photo and said, "Look what we did." They were (and Dad is) both so proud of their family. Every time I hear the Brooks & Dunn song Proud of the House We Built, I think of this moment.
Some days are better than others since mom's been gone. I'm sure there are a lot of these ahead, especially with the upcoming holidays. Happy memories help.

A Happy Memory

She loved us
Hannah and I went to mass this morning. Hannah figured we'd better start going again since mom "knows all" now. As soon as we sat down, the prelude hymn began. It was the same one we selected to be sung during the preparation of the gifts at mom's funeral mass. We began crying immediately, but Hannah was quick to look up the rest of the hymns so we'd know if we were in for any more emotional breakdowns during mass. We weren't. Whew...But! Surely, this is not a coincidence and mom was letting us know that she has loved us with an everlasting love. This hymn is a reminder of God's love and, certainly, a reminder of the reflection of that love through mom.
She loved us all unconditionally and unceasingly.
I Have Loved You
Refrain
I have loved you with an everlasting love,
I have called you and you are mine;
I have loved you with an everlasting love,
I have called you and you are mine.
Seek the face of the Lord and long for Him:
He will bring you His light and His peace.
[Refrain]
Seek the face of the Lord and long for Him:
He will bring you His joy and His hope.
[Refrain]
Seek the face of the Lord and long for Him:
He will bring you His care and His love.
[Refrain]
Based on Jeremiah 31:3 and Psalm 24:3
