John Kerry said...
"You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq." (To a group of California students this week.)
I have one comment...
"Botched joke" my ass.
Okay, so maybe not just one comment...
I saw the clip. If it was a botched joke, then how was it supposed to go? It didn't sound to me like he stumbled on his words or got tongue-tied. Not a blunder. Not a joke. Not even a "botched" joke. Having active duty family members and having had other family members who have served our country, I am offended by his remark. You just don't say things like that!!!
I will concede that I didn't see the rest of the speech. In this case, I don't care what else he had to say.
What just happened here?
Kerry wasn't on my agenda. Some of you have been no doubt wondering how long I could keep my mouth shut about things like this. Not long on this topic! Of course, our military folks were quick to respond.
Get your red hot bumper sticker...

I love it when you get passionate about something! My hope is Kerry will just go away. I agree with you...how was it supposed to go? One botched part of it was that it was in bad taste. I find it interesting as a war veteran himself that he would make such a comment. Also, he fought in a war that was extremely controversial as well, but he still served his country.
I do find it unfortunate that in our current climate that we pay so much attention to these types of things, from both sides, that end up detracting our attention from the things that are important. Not only that, but causing a further divide in our government.
I knew you wouldn't last long!
I think it ended up generating some valuable entertainment with the Halp us Jon Carry sign which is now a bumper sticker for $1.75. So for us to turn it into something funny, maybe it's okay that we spent time on it. God knows we could all use some humor.
I missed the part about the bumper sticker and yes, you're right. We do need some humor.
