I think the white space problem was simply a matter of the proper cropping of the photo I was uploading. The next mystery (to me, anyway) is why the image changes (or at least seems to). It looks degraded compared to what I have on my computer--the color is weird and I look all shiny. The next next quandary: I selected "small" image size, but now I have a big head. What's up with that?
